Google Doodle Celebrating the Edelweiss Flower

trennlinie_portfolio oben

I created this piece for Google to celebrate the Leontopodium nivale – more commonly known as the edelweiss flower. The Google Doodle was published on the 5th of March 2018 in Germany, Estonia, Bulgaria, Romania, and Greece.

In the folk art of the Alpine region the Edelweiss Flower is a traditional motif that is closely connected to a long and vivid history of embroidery. Cross stitches are often used to create embroidered pictures that celebrate the flora and fauna of the Alpine landscape and express the love of the Alpine people to the nature that surrounds them.

Visit Google`s Doodle archive to learn more about the edelweiss flower and see some more first sketches.
